The European Birdwatch  2003 will be on the week-end  of 4/5  October 2003.

The Lëtzebuerger Natur- a Vulleschutzliga LNVL (BirdLife Luxembourg) will be organising this years Birdwatch Day on behalf of the European Committee of BirdLife International and act as the European Center. As in previous years we will also organise the Rapid Information Action (RIA).

We would prefer to exchange information by e- mail (it's cheaper and quicker that way). If you do not have access to e-mail, please let us know what mode of communication you prefer.

  • If you intend to take part in Birdwatch activities, please fill in the attached registration form and tell us who will be the contact person(s) for your country.
  • In June you will receive a form on which you can tell us about your planned activities. Please complete it and return in by the end of July.
  • By mid - August you  will receive a press release and a list of all planned national activities.
    • RIA – Rapid Information Action
    The RIA system is designed to provide the raw material for European press release that each Partner can adapt to suit its particular media campaign. You will be e- mailed this press release by 20h00 on 5 October 2003

    Therefore, on 5 October we need for each country by 17h00 (CET) following information:

  • number of events,
  • number of participants,
  • number of observed birds (individuals)
  • the three top bird species,
  • if possible the number of bird species
  • if possible the number of IBA's with a Birdwatch event, the number of Natura 2000 areas.
    • A fill-in excell form will be sent to the national Birdwatch-responsible person for each participant country.
